This past week for the Seatech team. It all started with an emergency callout to a vessel suffering from a jammed propulsion system. Upon investigation, we quickly determined that not one but two large sheets of fendering material had been compressed into a 10mm aperture between the blade and shroud. This discovery revealed significant damage to the drive unit and blades, necessitating its removal and repair.
With our sister company, KGM Marine Services, arriving on-site to initiate the removal process. The next challenge was finding a suitable facility to carry out the necessary repairs. KGM Marine Services once again rose to the occasion, transporting the complete unit in a specialized frame fabricated by them to their facility. The unit was safely secured in their large warehouse on the outskirts of Southampton.
Specialist tooling was flown in from abroad to facilitate the repairs. Meanwhile, the KGM/Seatech team used their own transportation to deliver the blade unit to Glasgow for further repairs. Thanks to the dedicated efforts and seamless coordination between KGM Marine and Seatech Diving, the unit and vessel were returned to service in a timely manner.
This successful operation underscores the full commitment of KGM Marine Services and Seatech Diving to the marine industry. We are proud of our team’s quick response, technical expertise, and unwavering dedication to ensuring the highest standards of service and safety.
